Ab Energizer Review

The Ab Energizer was one of the first ab belts on the market.  The Ab Energizer promises to tone and strengthen your abs. Like so many of the earlier ab belts, the Ab Energizer lacked the intensity and effectiveness of the newer ab belts. It has since been discontinued but still can be purchased in various places online.

How does the Ab Energizer work?

The Ab Energizer is a belt that you strap on. The belt gives signals to the brain that makes the stomach muscles contract similar to a crunch or a sit-up. As the muscles in your stomach contract, this tones and strengthens your stomach. It sounds crazy but it actually works. This is called EMS (electronic muscle stimulation). EMS has been used for years to help rehabilitate people whose muscles have weakened.

The problem with the Ab Energizer and many of the earlier ab belts is the signals they send to the brain were not powerful enough to make the stomach muscles contract enough.

Is the Ab Energizer safe?

Ab belts are great for people who are either sick of or aren’t able to do traditional ab workouts. Basically no physical activity is required, the Ab Energizer does the work. There is no strain on the back or neck.

However, like any workout you will feel it. Your stomach will be sore especially after the first few times.

Is the Ab Energizer comfortable?

Another problem with the Ab Energizer is the belt is not comfortable. Wearing the Ab Energizer feels like your stomach is getting jabbed on both sides. Don’t believe me? Just read some customer reviews.

The Ab Energizer Sued by the Federal Trade Commission

In 2002, the FTC sued the Ab Energizer  for misleading customers. The Ab Energizer was promising dramatic weight loss when in reality it just lightly strengthen abdominal muscles.  They reached a $5 million dollar settlement. This is a definite red flag for anyone interested in purchasing the Ab Energizer.

Is the Ab Energizer Portable?

One of the few positive things we can say about the Ab Energizer is that it is extremely portable.  It can be stored anywhere. What’s great about ab belts is you don’t have to be in a set location, you can multi-task.  You aren’t stuck to one room.

How much is the Ab Energizer?

Used Ab Energizers can be purchased online for around $20. This is very cheap especially compared to other ab belts but keep in mind that Ab Energizers break easily and aren’t very effective.

Is there a money back guarantee?

There are no money back guarantees with the Ab Energizer.

Is the Ab Energizer worth purchasing?

Stay away from the Ab Energizer. It may sound tempting because it is cheap, but it won’t get you results. There is a reason it was discontinued, it wasn’t effective. The FTC even sued them for not delivering.
